Na Maka, a boat that truly lives up to her name

In Hawaiian mythology, Na Maka appears as a sea goddess or water spirit.

With Na Maka, we have been able to fulfil our dream: sailing as a family across the world's most beautiful seas and discovering so many magical places. It is a characterful boat whose many qualities have won over everyone who has got to know her on cruises with friends, here and there.

Since our beautiful Pacific crossing, we know that our boat truly lives up to her name!

Na Maka, a boat that is as seaworthy as comfortable

She is a SWITCH 51, a blue-water cruising catamaran designed by the talented architects Marc VAN PETEGHEM and Vincent LAURIOT PREVOST, behind some of the greatest multihull victories on every sea in the world.

At 15.5 metres, Na Maka combines excellent seakeeping and safety and generous living spaces, making her ideal for offshore cruising. Certified for 10 people, we deliberately limit the crew size for everyone's comfort.

On our cruises, we welcome guests on board up to 5 guests (four adults and one child), giving them our full attention: a pace adapted to your wishes, varied activities and carefully prepared meals… all the details that make a cruise successful.

This cabin has a spacious double bed and generous headroom. It is extremely comfortable, with plenty of storage, a lovely bench and even a bookcase.

Well ventilated, it may well invite you to take a nap 😉 A must!

Its generous length, its optimised length-to-weight ratio and daggerboards make Na Maka a very comfortable at sea. Its energy self-sufficiency, thanks to the solar panels, guarantees peaceful evenings without generator noise.

We arrived in Polynesia by sea as a family and have spent the past 15 years exploring many islands and atolls, from Mopelia at the western edge of French Polynesia to Eiao, the easternmost island of the Marquesas.

We will be delighted to share our knowledge of this extraordinary sailing ground and our favourite places among the islands we invite you to discover. We will listen carefully and adapt to your wishes.

And if you sail, we will be delighted to hand you the helm!

A few activities to keep you busy… or deliberately do nothing

During your cruise, you will have the chance to try a multitude of activities, at sea and on land. There are too many possibilities to list them all, but here are some of our favourite experiences:

Activities included on board Na Maka

Cruising in the Pacific means warm water and plenty of water-based activities, as well as land activities that vary with the islands we visit.

Beach games

Petanque, beach tennis and even table tennis — on a strip of sand or on a motu.

Fishing

Line fishing or spearfishing: whether you are a beginner or experienced, there is no pressure — you will not be expected to bring anything home for dinner :-).

Hiking

On a reef, a motu or in the mountains, some of our islands and atolls are perfect for beautiful walks lasting several hours. It is a chance to visit marae, emblematic places of worship in the Polynesian triangle.

Kayaking and paddleboarding

There is nothing better than drifting through turquoise water — unless you would rather pick up the pace and burn a few calories before aperitif time.

Relaxing

There is nothing quite like basking in the sun on the beach or on our catamaran’s trampoline with a good book and forgetting all about time.

Snorkelling

A must-do activity: discovering and observing tropical corals and fish is a wonder you will want to enjoy every day. Because we know the best snorkelling sites, we can make the most of your experience.

Activities led by local operators

Unfortunately, we cannot do everything ourselves. Luckily, we have plenty of friends to recommend for almost anything you might like to do. Just ask us!

Big-game fishing

Polynesian waters are particularly rich in tuna, wahoo, swordfish and mahi-mahi. A fishing trip can be a memorable experience.

Bike, scooter and car hire

Cultural activities

Cooking and weaving workshops; depending on the island and the time of year, you may also attend traditional — yet very much alive — dance, singing and music performances.

Cycling, mountain biking and e-bikes

Ethnobotanical tour

Discover Polynesia’s endemic flora and learn how to pair it with vanilla.

Kitesurfing and wing foiling

Bring your own gear and discover dream spots all to yourself. You will sail safely under supervision. Depending on the island, you can rent equipment and/or take lessons with a qualified instructor. We can also bring an instructor on board: Antoine Fermon from Tahiti Kite School, a former European champion, for a themed cruise.

Mountain hikes

Some iconic hikes, especially in the Marquesas, are led by guides for safety and navigation.

Pearl farm visits

The black pearl is a true symbol of Tahiti, surrounded by many Polynesian myths. When our itinerary passes by a pearl farm, we love to visit it.

Scuba diving

We can arrange scuba-diving trips with local clubs on the islands we visit.

Whale watching

Between July and November, during whale season, you may be able to watch them and sometimes even swim with them.

Yoga and massage

If you love yoga and massages, we can bring an instructor on board for daily sessions as part of a themed cruise.
